More Movie Plots

Posted in book porn by Lauren Leto on September 29, 2009

Authors paired up like in the movies:

Thomas Pynchon and Lauren Conrad (she did co-write “LA Candy”)

“Recognition”

Pynchon is a lonely, angry old man who hangs out in the same diner that Conrad goes to daily. Conrad is a fame whore that accidentally spills her drink on Pynchon then talks to him for a couple of seconds. Another diner points out to Conrad, “that is the famous recluse, Thomas Pynchon” and Conrad is shocked that people care who that guy is and not her. She becomes interested in Pynchon and Pynchon slowly changes the way that Conrad sees the world. At the same time, Conrad opens his eyes to the fun in being a celebrity, especially when the paparazzi chase them. However, the bottom quickly falls out when tabloids start reporting that Conrad is only dating Pynchon in order to be seen as a more serious author (her next book being, “LA Monotony”). Conrad wins him with some stupid grand gesture, reminiscent of Drew Barrymore in “Never Been Kissed” which was both Pynchon and Conrad’s favorite movie. This movie would take the #1 spot Valentine’s Day Weekend
